Any info on Ole Syvertsen Lee
shazeroHello. I posted here 6 months ago or so and now have a little bit more information and hope maybe someone can help. Ole Syvertsen Lee, born Sep 20 1850 in Norway. According to USA 1900 census, came to USA in 1859. According to marriage certificate (to Ingeborg Helene Thoen) his parents are Syvert Lee and Johanne Olsen. He had settled in St. Croix County, Baldwin, Wisconsin. I would like to find more info on the family. Such as what ship, where in Norway, any siblings, etc. Can anyone point me in the right direction?? I seem to come up with dead ends. Thanks for any assistance/suggestions you may have. sha.
thelebrityn 1865 the following Thoen farms existed in Norway: In Hjelmeland parish, Rogaland fylke. In Nordrehov, Næs, Aal, Rolloug and Nore parishes, Buskerud fylke. In Høland parish, Akershus fylke. Go to: http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/wc/webcens.exe?slag=meny&kategori=1&emne=3&spraak=e Search with containing "Thoen" Here you can make the same search in the 1801 census: http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/wc/webcens.exe?slag=meny&kategori=1&emne=2&spraak=e
Jo Anne SadlerHave you found Ole on any other census'? It may give more clues. On the Index of Departures, on this site, for 1859 all the ships listed went either to Hull or Quebec. It is my understanding that they are no passenger lists for Quebec before 1865. Have you checked with the St. Croix Gen Web? They are very active and have links to extensive resources and volunteers. The St. Croix Valley Genelogical Society, has alot of information, they also have at least two indexes on line for Baldwin history books and list Ole Lee and Troens. After you find someone on the index, you can email the lookup volunteer for the info. They also have vital records starting in 1852. Good luck[:D]
thelebrityI have searched all Li, Lid, Lia, Lien farms in the parishes with Thoen farms. These two farms have habitants with Syver as first name or patronym (I think I would check out the farm in Næs - with Randi Syversdatter first). Farm Lien in Næs parish, Buskerud fylke: http://129.177.171.80/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=f60616&variabel=0&postnr=4418&fulle=true&spraak=n Farm Lien in Aal parish, Buskerud fylke: http://129.177.171.80/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=f60619&variabel=0&postnr=3689&fulle=true&spraak=n
BriningHi If Ole was born in 1850 and left in 1859 he would have been 9 which would probably mean he came with his parents. Unfortunately that puts him in between the 1801 and 1865 Norwegian census on line and before the passenger lists [xx(]. There are some out migrant lists that you could try searching at the digitalarkivet Click Here and maybe get lucky finding them.
