SS IOWA
James E HegIn looking for info on Skaugen family I found the SS IOWA, 4329 tone, E.W. Owens, Master. She made three trips from Glasgow to New York in 1869 (13 July, 23 August, 6 October arrivals) on which she landed 348 Norwegians. A 4th trip 30 December landed 5 more. This ship does not appear in your data base. Perhaps this is some of the material you are working on. I found 8 Skaugens in the 13 July list. Ole A Skaugen, age 39, head, wife and 4 children, including a Christian Skaugen, Also listed were a Marthin Skauge age 19 and an Andres Skauge age 11. [8)] Jim
BorgeI think this must be the Anchor Line ship: S/S Iowa built 1863-64 in Waterford by Malcolmson & Co.
James E HegBørge - you are right about the ship. I can't find where I got my tonnage and master. The 4,329 ton IOWA was not built until 1879. By the way, all the Skaugens are related. I looked at the original list. They did a fairly good job of transcribing on these lists. I repeat fairly. Jim
