Ship Aaro
sigeinct	Hello All, I have just joined this forum to try to get more info regarding a journey from Sweden to NY. According to the records from landsarkivet in Göteburg, my grandfather left Göteburg 13 Feb 1914 on board the Aaro destined for Hull, England. He sailed from Southampton on board the Olympic, White Star Line, arriving Ellis Island 26 Feb 1914. Agent Carl Eriksson. It's my understanding that a person would buy one ticket from the agent for the whole trip from Sweden through to New York if not farther. From what I have found on this site the Aaro was operated by the Wilson Linda and sailed from Trondheim and other Norwegian ports to Hull in 1914. I saw no mention of any Swedish ports. Would anyone have any thoughts or knowledge of this? Was the Aaro a White Star Line ship in 1914? Was it sailing from both Swedish and Norwegian ports (Trondheim & Göteburg are pretty far apart to be part of the same trip)? Would someone make the trip on ships owned by two different lines? Trond	Hi Linda The Wilson Line operated several routes to Scandinavia, The routes we have information of re the Norwegian routes from Trondheim – Hull, Bergen – Hull or Krstiania – Hull. There were also routes for Gothenburg – Hull. Wilson Line operated these routes with the same ships and Aaro was one of them. The Aaro you are looking for is the same ship that left from Trondheim (also Kristiania) 1914 was a difficult year for the Wilson Line because of the ww1 who started later this year. The Aaro did also something special late this year. She left Oslo for Liverpool with sugar? I have newer figured out why? Trond Austheim
