Gulbrandsen native
pat	I am trying to track information on my grandmother who lived in Gulbrandsen and immigrated to U.S. in appr 1887. She left out of Oslo. I do not know the correct spelling of her last name but it is appr. "Stehnstugen". She was 19 at the time. How do I start? Edited by - pat
Trond	Hei, The area in Norway you are looking for must be the valley Gudbrandsdalen. That’s located in Oppland County. According to the census of 1865 there are 3 farms called Stentuen (stonehouse) in Oppland. Unfortunately there are no police protocol records from 1887 at Digitalarkivet http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/index-eng.htm yet, but the protocol for Oslo have been filmed and can be found/ordered at your local LDH library (or ask at your local library). The protocols are called "Christiania Politikammer Emigrantprotokoll”. The protocol number for 1887 is No. 12 and No. 14. Happy hunting! Trond Austheim
