Ingeborg Svendsdatter Loeng to America 1883
connierlIngeborg Svendsdatter Loeng born 1828, went to America in 1883 with her daughter Elida Bollete. Ingeborg's husband had gone to America in 1882. He was August Petersen, born in Sweden abt 1833. The family lived at Loeng "the oldcottage" in 1875. the area in Norway is called Land. other names for the farm were: Vinterbakke/Bakken a connection to Nordeng but seperate from Vinterbakke. a brother of Ingeborg's, Svend Svendsen Loeng born 1823, went to America in 1857. My great grandmother Mari/Marit Svendsdatter Loeng born in 1831 went to America in 1851 with another brother Hovel Svendsen Loeng born 1821. Hovel was the first Norwegian from Land to be killed in the U.S. Civil war. The parents of Hovel, Mari, Ingeborg and Svend were Svend Hovelsen Loeng baptised 1773, died 1849. He was married 1811 to Inger Olsdatter Vasslien, baptised 1791. It appears that after Svend Hovelsen Loeng died in 1849 that Hovel Svendsen got the farm Loeng and he sold it before coming to America in 1851. I would like to find these people, Ingeborg, Hovel, Svend and Mari on ships lists. I would also like to find descendants of this family who did not come to America. They were: Ole, born 1815 and married Johanne Jonsdatter. Johannes born 1817. Gunhild born 1826 and married 1868 to Hans Hagensen Dalby, Nils born 1833 was farm administrator in 1875 and ug. Anne born 1837. Thank you for any help. Connie Bottolfsen Loftus connierl@longlines.com that is an L before the @ sign
