Gwening	Looking for when Oluf Andreas Sivertsen Axels Dahl born Bergen 1859 came to England. Have found his birth -Father Sivert Johan Axels Dahl mother Berthe Marie Ellingsen. Brother Knud Martin Sivertsen Dahl b 1846 and sister Anne Johanne Sovertsen Dahl b 1851 Bergen. Oluf married in London in 1885. Can anyone help or point me in the right direction? Gwen Ing
jwiborg	Hi, have you found him in the [url="http://www.census.pro.gov.uk/index.html"]1901 Census of England and Wales[/url]? There is one "Andreas Sivertsen" there, but maybe it's easier to search for his wife, due to differences in spelling of his name... [:)] It might be spelled Olaf, Oluf, Sivertsen, Syvertsen, Syvertson etc etc... If you find them, you should apply for the census image of the household, it cost approx £5 I believe... The census might tell you the year of immigration. Jan

Dahl Huusfader Skibstømmermand g 46 m Bergen Bertha Maria Dahl Konen g 48 f Bergen Knud Martin Sivertsen Søn Smedesvend u 19 m Bergen Anne Johanne Sivertsen Datter u 14 f Bergen Oluf Andreas Sivertsen Søn u 7 m Bergen Knud Ellingsen Onstad g 81 m Urland prestegjeld Oline Ellingsen Mellembud g 70 f Bergen Knud Ellings. dies 88 year old in 1871 in Bergen I can't find them in the 1875-census. Did the whole family go to England?
James E Heg	I don't know if this is relevant but I found an Andrus Dahl, age 29 arriving New York from Glasgow 18 July 1869 in SS IOWA
Gwening	Thank you all for your help. I answer as follows:- I have found the family on 1901 census -Oluf then called himself Alfred and was living in Walthamstow London. There is no reference as to when he emigrated. Could not find any of the rest of the family.[:)] I had already found them in Norway in 1865 census but did not know that Knud Elling died in 1871. Thankyou. I don't know whether the whole family emigrated but could not find them on the 1875 census. The Andrus Dahl age 29 arriving New York in 1869 could not have been Oluf as he was only about 10 years old then. [:)]
