NY Arrivals 1861
James E Heg	Looking at an old posting I read that there are no Pass. Lists for 1861 (by Børge). I found a few covering 30 Norwegians, mostly on ships from Hamburg, 5 or 6 ships involved. Would this info help. Jim
Borge	Jim Yes, it will help, I also suspect that there were a number of Norwegians travelling on Anchor Line ships to New York, maybe as early as 1866. You could also be looking for the S/S Ottawa, Capt. Archer departed Christiania Aug. 22 and arrived New York Sep. 6 - 1866. In 1864 and probably some years previous to that, there were some Norwegians leaving via Copenhagen on the S/S Denmark and S/S Fulton.
James E Heg	Børge - No joy on search for OTTAWA. In testing the search setup I punched in THINGVALLA. You are having, or will have, a lot of fun with this one. Between 1881 and 1891 she landed 7,871 Norwegians in New York. A busy and aggressive ship. She seems to have "trolled" for passengers. Multiple port calls on every voyage - Norway, Denmark, Germany, etc 3 to 4 round voyages a year. I haven't searched DENMARK or FULTON yet, and may have misspelled OTTAWA. More later. Jim
James E Heg	Børge- I found OTTAWA, thanks to a prompt from Jo Anne, Arrival 7 Sept. 1866, 267 Norwegians landed. Do you want the list? Jim
James E Heg	Børge - Some further digging. No joy on DENMARK or FULTON. Found 158 Norwegians landed NYC in 1863, most (125) in ANTARCTIC from Liver pool, 10 July. This ship's name suggests an American built clipper ship. Also in 1862 found 71 Norwegians, 44 in ELECTRIC (almost certainly a clipper) from Hamburg, 6 January (makes me seasick to think about it). Must give it a rest for a few days. Jim
