Ralph Hendersin	Searching for burial site of Betsey Oleson Damkaasen-lost her 1872 when she and her only child Thomas sold 80 acres on Fish Creek Ridge Leon Township Monroe County Wisconsin. Suspect she may have been buried in original Portland (Cannon Valley) Monroe County Wisconsin Lutheran Cemetery with Husband Ole Oleson Damkaasen buried 1866 and Daughter Kari Olesdatter Damkaasen buried 1868. (Gerhard Naeseth) (Vesterheim).
Brining	Hi I can't tell you where she is buried but on the LDS there is Ole Olsen Born 5/24/1815 married to Birgith (Betsey) Reiersdatter born 2/5/1826 married 2/1/1846 Children Kari born Jan 1861 Thorjus (Thomas) born 1855 Aslak born May 1852 All in Laurdal, Telemark, Norway They had several children die in Norway so don't know if Aslak emigrated with them or also died young. No relation to me just thought this info might help in locating her Carla
Ralph Hendersin	THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! My wife Janet and I restored a small Norwegian Cemetery Portland Township Monroe County Wisconsin summer 2003. (see my query of 08/04/20 SMALL NORWEGIAN CEMETERY) Epoxied a large tabletstone that was in four pieces, restored all individual stones to an upright position, cleaned all stones and removed all brush in the cemetery. After all this I acquired a sort of kinship with these former residents and felt compelled to identify those who were a mystery. I had traced the Damkaasen farm to Telemark (Digitalarkevet) but I don't read Norwegian so that can be a problem there. Betsey took possession of 160 acres from the US. Government (BLM site) as an heir in 1871. She also sold some land to the Fish Creek Norwegian Lutheran Church 1871. She and her only child Thomas sold the last 80 acres of that original 160 acres 1872, and that is where I have lost her. I have checked all the surrounding Norwegian Lutheran Cemeteries for a stone with no results. Cemetery and Church records will be my next step and I feel that the information you have furnished will certainly be a BIG help. Thanks again! Ralph

Trond	Ole Olsen Rinden 44 (a cotter) left Laurdal in 1861 together with his wife Birgit Reiersdatter 34, Torjus b. 1855-05-20 and Kari age 4 according to the register “Emigrants from Telemark” (parich records). They most likely left in the spring of 1861 to border one of four ships rigged and ready in the small towns Porsgrunn or Skien bound for Quebec. The ships were Amelia, Sjofna, Witch or Maple Leaf (Regina from Kragerø could also be a possible ship). There is no way of telling which one they used for the passage for the passenger lists in Canada are missing for this year. [:D]
