Argentina - The Promise Land
quanchoI'm researching the Irish Immigration to Argentina, in special the one that cames the 15th February 1889 in the steamship SS Dresden. That was the greatest irish immigration ever come to this land. They were more than 1780 3rd class irish passangers. They come here looking for a job, a house, a better way of life, and a future. They found another language, another climate, another food, everything was very diferent. And obviously there was no job, no food, no instalation for all the immigrants that, from all over the world, were coming in that time looking for the same as the Irish. My interest resides in that my great greatgrandfather came in that ship (Mr. James Pearce). There is a story that continuos to that ship that it was a project of Irish Colony that never prospered. At the moment I found more Irish-Argentine Dresden descendants that are interested in forming a group and a website, in order to make public this story. Any information could be send to quancho@yahoo.com Thanks for reading this and keep in touch.
