Manifest? Angelo, 26 Aug 1887 from Kristiania
jwerneper digitalarkivet, the following passenger departure: Ship Angelo: departing Kristiania on 26 Aug 1887. Passenger Inga Nilson, married, age 30, traveling with daughter Helmine Nilsson, female child age 11 months. Residence Wermland, destination Escanaba (Delta Co., Michigan). Looking for port of arrival in USA, date of arrival, any reference to who they intended to meet in Escanaba. Background: Inga was christened: Ingjerd Nilsson, b. 2 Apr 1854 in Backa, Västra Emtervik, Värmland, Sweden; daughter Wilhelmina, b. 7 Apr 1886, also in Backa. Husband Johan Edvard Eriksson sailed from Kristiana for Escanaba on 20 Apr 1886. Inga appears to be following him to USA. However, because Inga's husband Johan either died or abandoned the family prior to 1888; don't know if Inga is expecting to rejoin him, or simply going to be with her sister who emigrated to Escanaba in 1883, and married in 1885. Looking for any kind of clue to help track down information contained in the manifest. Thanks John Werner jwerne@concentric.net
jwerneFigured out how to find this using the various databases, thanks to Børge's instructions in my other inquiry about the Marsdin. Thanks
BorgeThat's great John Did you find the ship for this voyage too?
jwerneI believe so, Børge. The only American Line ship (Helgesen - A, from Digitalarkivet website) that left Liverpool at about the time the Angelo arrived is the S/S Lord Gough. There were, however, no confirmed connections. S/S Lord Gough arrived in Philadelphia on 12 Sep 1887. On the other hand, there appear to be no confirmed connections for any American Line ship. The local NARA office does not keep films of ships that arrived in Philadelphia. I will need to send for this film from a LDS Family History Center, sometime, in to confirm whether Inga and daughter Helmine were on the passenger list. Thanks for your help John
