auntshirley2u	Any information on Knud Andreas Owenson (Aanensen) born Norway 1834/5 Arrived in USA ? The rest of his family settled in Iowa, Winnebago, Grant. Can not find him in the US but found the rest of the family in the 1900 and 1930 census. His wife is Bertha Sophie Hamre (F- Peder Hamoe) He is the father of Arthur John Owenson b - Norway, Haugesund 1869, who married Emma Jane Daniels b-Il. Any information will really be appreciated. Also a brick wall is Alfred Barlow Elliott. Married to Florida Hart who was born in KY, married and had children in Shiloh, then moved to Equality, Gallatin, Illinois and had two girls: Emma Opal Elliott b- 1908 and Nyda Virginia Elliott b- 1911. They could have moved to another location in Norway (not all areas of Norway are covered by the online 1875-census), but most likely they have emigrated. Since Arthur John is born in Haugesund in 1869, the emigration should have taken part between 1869-1875. //Jan
Hopkins	Bertha Sophie Hamre is listed as 'Sofie', born 6 July 1845 the daughter of Peder Salvesen Hamre and Anne Helene Halvorsdtr of Skudeneshavn on the island of Karmøy in Rogaland, Norway. Jo Anne Sadler	In the 1900 census, it should show a year of immigration, not always accurate but a starting point. I found Arthur J. Owenson in the 1930 census living in Tujunga California and it looks like the year of immigration is 1893 but it could be 1873. He is listed as 61 years old, age at first marriage, 21 so that makes his marriage year around 1890. His wife, Emma is listed as born in Iowa as well as the first child, Marion born 1897. There was an 1885 Iowa state census and the microfilm can be rented from - http://www.iowahistory.org/library/library_offers/microfilm_loan_purchase.html There are also Naturalization record microfilms for Winnebago County that can be rented from a local Family History Center.
