Johansen family in Moss
jim ht	Hello again, thanks to the help I have recieved from the posters on this site I have decided to visit Moss where I hope to learn a little more about my GGrandfather Axel Johansen b 1860/1. I would like to ask anyone from this area...where is the first place that I should visit, the Family History Centre, the LDS ? What would be the best day to visit ? I am arriving in Kristiansand Saturday the 14th , I am with my motorbike and camping so please look kindly on the little guy who looks like he,s been dragged through a hedge.I have some photocopies of things like death certificates, obituries etc, that I have, who would be the best person to leave these with. kerrie	Hi Askeroi and Jim. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction Askeroi. Jim I might be able to help you. Have you thought of looking at the 1891 census in England for Axel? Do you have information from his children's birth certificates and his death certificate that leads you to Moss? I do have a partial copy of the seaman from Moss for the years you are looking for my own oldefar left around the same time and he was said to be a seaman as well but I have been unable to find him. I also have ancestors that lived on the Reier Farm in Moss. When are you going to Moss? You might try and get as much information before you leave. I have contacts in the Moss Family History Society, have you tried them? The Moss Family History Society is only there through the winter months.
jim ht	Hi Kerrie, sorry this took so long but Ive had to work away from home for a while, yes I visited the Moss FH Society and was really helped by the people there. I even walked up the hill and visited part of the Reier farm but sadly it has changed owners a couple of times since my GGf,s days, but the owner of one of the parts ( a nice old man, who has an English wife ) who,s father bought it around 1900 was quite prepared to have a long chat. Rather than clog this site up I think the Moss fhs have put me on their searching lists.. so if you got nothing to do have a look there and I would be thrilled to hear from you..jim ht
