Johan and Rangdi ( Nee. Findson ) Johansen
Hopkins_02I am Looking For information to do with my ancestors , Johan and Rangdi ( nee. Findson ) their original surname in norway was Parson but on coming to New zealand on the Hovdings second voyage ( landing 1873 ) they changed their last name to Johansen and they made home at Norsewood Any Information will be most welcome[:D]
askeroiAs you don't give any hint on age/birth year it's a bit like the needle... BUT: There aren'r many Findsdaughters in norway in 1865 - and combined with versions of Rangdi it's even fewer. But one of them seems to fit very well:(?) http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=f60423.wc2&variabel=0&postnr=3522&fulle=true&spraak=n Could this be her? The husband's name is like in NZ - and I've never heard of any norwegian called Parson? Are the children correct too?
Hopkins_02Parsson is not a norwegian name it is a french name as his grandparents were residents of the french court fleeing to denmark during the revolution that much i do know.......LOL
jwiborgHi, yes, this must be the same family as listed on the Passenger list for Høvding 1873. Jan
ninakarlsThere is a documentary novel about these people: Title: Johanna's world / Ø.M. Andresen ; translated by Johan Bonnevie. Author: Andresen, Øystein Molstad Published: Auckland : Harper-Collins Publ., 2001 ISBN: 1-86950-370-8 (h.) Surname in Norway was Paso, as they were living at a cotter's place named Pasotorpet in Grue, Hedmark
NearNorsewoodI have extracted the family tree info from the above book, "Johanna's World" by Ø.M. Andresen. It can be found here: http://www.norsewoodcemetery.co.nz/family-trees/johannesen-johan-descendants.html
Derek OlsenI am Great grandson ot Torkel Olsen and Kristofer Finsen of Hovding and I think Torkel married Andrea Eriksen daughter of Ole Eriksen so I think he also is great grandfather. I knew Hans Finsen son of Kristofer who was Rangdi's brother. I know a little of the Norsewood scene from my father born there 1900
