Danish Troop Ship to Bergen 1787 - 1789
kerrieI am not sure if anyone can help but I am trying to find the ship that my gggggreatgrandfather arrived in Norway from Denmark. He was a professional soldier belonging to a Hussar corp stationed in Bergen. He was discharged in 1789 and left Bergen for Moss to start a new life. He was German in the Danish Army serving in Norway. I have a ship name of Sjælland but I think that may have been a ship leaving Bergen for Denmark with returning soldiers. Any and all help or advice will be greatly appreciated.[:)]
BorgeIt will be very hard to try helping you without any more information, like the name of this person and his vital data.
kerrieHis name is Joseph Meyer he was born around 1760 in Germany, he enlisted in the Hussar corp on 10 July 1787 and was discharged February 1789 in Bergen. I now have yet another name for a ship of Møen?? He died in Christiana 10 May 1805, married in Moss 18 February 1792 to Maren Hansdatter and they had 3 children, one was stillborn the son died at the age of 5 by drowning, his first wife also drowned and he was questioned and accused although it was never founded, over her drowning, he married again to Gunhild Neilsdotter Johannesdatter 8 December 1799, she died 28 Februray 1804 of TB. He had also contracted TB and that was what killed him. He was no angel. Maren Hansdatter is also another stumbling block.
HopkinsIs this him living in Moss, Ostfold in the 1801 Norwegian census? http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=f10104.wc2&variabel=0&postnr=203&fulle=true&spraak=n
kerrieYes this is him but it is before this time that I am interested in. He moved to Moss around 1789 or thereabouts after he was discharged.
kerrieThe name of the Troop ship is definately "Møen" I believe. Any ideas when it might have sailed for Bergen or arrived in Bergen would be greatly apprecited. A picture and anything about the troops on board would be more than a bonus. :-)
