Name of Ship?
OleORecently, in the Danish Emigration Archive database, I located the name of my great grandfather and family. They immigrated to the USA in 1882. In the listed data, under the category "Name of Ship" it indicates "Indirete". Is this the name of the ship or does this word have other meaning? Thanks, OleO
BorgeHello Ole It is not the name of the ship. The word indicates that your great grandfather did not travel directly, but indirectly via some other country. Many Danes traveled via Hamburg and some via Britain (prior to the establishment of the Thingvalla Line). Børge Solem
