Trying to find the ship, Bjorgen
gbjorgenI have a document stating that my grandfather arrived in this Country from Norway to New york on May 1891 I am at a loss as to where I go from here. Name: Jens Bjorgen Any help or suggestions you can provide would be greatly appreciated
Jo Anne SadlerWas this from a naturalization record? They can be inaccurate. The microfilm for this month and year can be rented at a local Family History Center. What was his age? Any other name, son of?
HopkinsUS Census indexes (1910 and 1920) indicate a Jens Bjorgen (Norway born ca. 1876) who lived in Kitsap Co. Washington. But I think those record this particular man as immigrating in 1900. Can you give more identification for YOUR Jens Bjorgen? When born?, where lived?, wife's name?, children's names?, when died? where died? Items will which help identify him - from any other similarly named persons. Most importantly, what is it you are hoping to find? That will greatly determine where you 'go from here'.

Thanks for the reply! The information I have is from his intention to become a Citizen of the US. Jens Knudson Bjorgen was born 10 Mar 1874 in Oppdal Norway, Father's name was Knut Lemvig Olsen Bjorgen. What I would like is the name of the ship he came over on and perhaps get a photo.
gbjorgenThank you for your reply. What I am looking for is the name of the ship he came over and perhaps get a photo. The date I use is from the doc. he signed as his intention to become a citizen of the US. I have a extensive file as this is my Grandfather who was born in Oppdal Norway in 1874. Appreciate again your reply.

jabcadMy name is Jeffrey Borgen. i was visiting my father over the weekend and was asking about my family name. i knew it was changed by my great grandmother from Bjorgen to Borgen. My great grandfather's name was Olie Bjorgen. He came from Norway around the same time as your grandfather. i don't know anymore other than when my great grandmother and great grandfather divorced she dropped the j from the name. my grandfather's name was Merlyn Borgen, he passed away in the early 80's. he was an only child. i did a search on google and ran across your post. i didn't know if your Jens Bjorgen may have been related or knew Olie Bjorgen. good luck in your search.
gbjorgenGreetings Jeffery, Now this is the first I have heard of a Bjorgen name change. I do know their is several Lines of Bjorgen and my line came from the farm named Bjorgen of which I have photos. Your Olie Bjorgen does not seem to ring a bell whereas if your interested please contact me and I will try to be of help. Do you have any documents which should be helpful?
