Christ Serum Sogn, Norway
mbserumBeginning a genealogy search and am looking for how to best get info on my great grandfather Christ Serum born in Sogn, Norway November 1858
HopkinsThere was a 52 yr old Christ Serum living in Buffalo County, Wisc. in the 1910 US census. Wife named Christie?, children Clara, Olaf, Halina or Halma?, and Dagny. This man is listed as having immigrated to the US about 1880. Is this the correct Christ Serum? (There is more than one man by that name in the US censuses)
ninakarlsA search in the emigration protocols gives a possible candidate: 1880 24/8 bachelor Christen Olsen Sørheim age 22 b. 1858 in Luster Sogn og Fjordane, leaves Bergen on "Amerikansk Linie" Sørheim could have been changed to Serum based on the pronounciation
marshaO1Hi, I have an ancestor from Sogn with the name of Martha Lerum. I'm wondering if you might try to look under that surname also, in case it may have been misprinted somewhere along the line. I believe that Marha had a son named Christian according to a letter I recieved from her niece. Martha was born in Sogn, Norway March 21, 1835 (I recieved this information from Norway-Statsarkivet I Bergen). Also, there is a very thorough History written by Lars Oyane on Luster county (Sogn was in Luster County) that might give you more information if you can find a copy. I've had a hard time on this line myself. I wonder if I should start looking for Serum instead of Lerum in my next search on this line.
