Died 1. of february 1912 in Lillesand (Norway). About 40 years old he became head of the customs office in Lillesand. He wrote down his memoares at that time . His Father was Christian Stub Myhre babtisted 22.06 1800 in Skien. His Mother : Mathilde Christine Munch. Born 5.11 1815 in Gjerpen. diead 6.9 1891 in Porsgrunn . Her parents was greatparents to the painter Edvrd Munch.

Edward Munch's father sailed on the Salvator in 1843 as a young ship's doctor with the Gasman family. The Slavator was owned by Jacob K. Møller, Porsgrunn, Norway - do you know if there was a relationship? It would be very interesting if you have additional information about the voyages, personalities and ships from Christain Myhre's memoares. If you prefer to post in Norwegian it is OK.

Borge, I am a descendent of both Hans Jacob Gasmann and his brother Captain Johan Gasmann (Johan's daughter Maren Henrike married Hans' son Christian Gottfried, and their son, August , is my great grandfather ). You have mentioned twice on your forums that Dr. Christian Munch, Edvard Munch's father, was the ship's doctor on Captain Gasmann's bark Salvator. That is quite an historical event and I have been trying to verify it on the internet and in the profuse biographies and critical books about Edvard without any luck.(This is almost my most exciting ancestral historic revelation since learning about Christian Gottfried Gasmann walking with Henrik Ibsen from the Ibsen Venstop farm to their school in Skien.) Do you have a citation for Dr. Munch's duty on the Salvator? Also, do you know when Captain Gasmann crossed the Atlantic the last time to bring his family to Wisconsin to join Hans and his 13 children? Was that on the 1845 voyage of the Salvator?
