passenger list grandfather
pace312Im still trying to find what ship my grandfather came over on, in the 1900 census halfan gunnerud his father hans and mother hanna are listed, i know he had to come over in 1910 the port Boston, he settled there and is listed in the 1920 census. I have contacted NARA and they reseached the ship list for me and with no luck they could not find him on a ships list. Ive done a ton of research and can not find any information on him being a passenger. Whats my next step? Where do i go from here. He was born 1892. Thanks Kim Foster
HopkinsYou asked about this same thing just a few days ago. Did you start the search for his naturalization papers? You hired a researcher at the NARA? Did they search just the 'index' for Boston or the actual passenger records? How expensive did that end up being? I've never seen an option where the NARA will search the passenger arrivals for anyone... where did you find that?
Stephanie BenoitUnfortunately, we can't read about the likely prospect at Ellisisland.org. It appears that he is recorded as Hol...dan Gunnerod July 06, 1910 Southampton 0024 but when I click to see the page, the correct page does not come up. In Norway 1900 this looks like him http://www.rhd.uit.no/folketellinger/ftliste_e.aspx?ft=1900&knr=0705&kenr=017&bnr=0009&lnr=05 I'd be interested in hearing about the researchers at NARA too! Please, do tell. Stephanie

BriningStephanie The micro film of the Oceanic passenger list is on line at the Jewish Genweb Click Here Put in the date of arrival and ship starting with oce. On the next page click on Oceanic. When the next page comes up be patient and let it fully load. An image of the list will load in the top half. You should be able to page through to see if you can find him. Click on the +1 under the frame column to advance to the next page. There is the possiblity that the whole list wasn't microfilmed so he might not be there. If you don't have a high speed connection it could be a long search [:p] Carla
Stephanie BenoitHi Carla, I have used that site before but never in that way ...very coool. Thank you for the lesson. I have to remember what other images I had trouble with at EllisIsland.org. However, I didn't find him. I have high speed and it loaded but I must be blind, because I didn't see him. Thank you! Stephanie
pace312Just to let you know, you can now go to the NARA website and pull up the form you need and send it and they will do the reseach for you, if they find the information your your credit card is charged. The information is then mailed to you, if no information is found they do not charge you and the explain by mail why they could not find the information you needed. The cost for a passenger lookup is $17.50 they will do the census and immigration and such. Unfortunately i did go to the ellis island website and saw that lookup but the information would not come up. thanks kim
