Dorte Lovise Kristoffersen
hardaped1905I have been attempting to locate immigration records on Dorte Lovise Kristoffersen. I have not been able to find her on Ellis Island website nor Digitalarkivet Emigrants from Oslo website. She was born in Fet, Akershus, Norway in 1875. Fet bygdebok says she immigrated to America in 1892. I do not know whether she was married or not. Her parents were my gggrandparents, Kristoffer Gulbrandsen born in Fet 1823 and Karen Johannesen born in Askim 1846. Any information you may be able to provide will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. [:)]
HopkinsDo US census enumerations agree that she immigrated in 1892? I assume she married in the US - have you compared the # of yrs married to the emigration year listed in Fet? Where did she settle? (state, county, and/or city) who did she marry? (I wanted to check US census indexes - but cannot without knowing name of the head of household.)
hardaped1905I understand that this is a long shot but I thought I would give it a trry. I do not know where she settled or who she married. I wasn't sure how to proceed in the US census without this information. Year of her birth could be 1874 or 1875. Thank you for responding.
TrondThe census of 1875 listed her as Lovise Christofers (datter) b. 1874 in Fet.
Jo Anne SadlerThe Fet parish records are available on microfilm for rental at a local history center. The moving out records (Utflyttede) for 1892-1905 are on Microfilm #1283004. http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/fhlcatalog/supermainframeset.asp?display=titlefilmnotes&titleno=75829&disp=Kirkeb%C3%B8ker++&first=101&last=150&columns=*,0,0 I think Brining should give me a lesson in how to do "click here"[:p]
hardaped1905Thank you very much for sharing. I appreciate any leads. I will be going to Utah this next week so I will be researching the film. Thank you Linda
BriningJo Anne When the post reply screen comes up, in the icons next to format there is one that looks like a globle and paper clip?? (next to HR) click on that. In the first box type click here or what ever you want to appear in the reply, in the next box past in the URL. very simple but I always try to preview and check if I did it right. Hope that helps Carla
BriningHi Your gggrandmother is in the 1900 census Click Here living on the Fjerdingby farm. In the emmigrants from Oslo 1893 there is a John Fertingby from Fet traveling to Eau Claire. Click Here This could be Dorte's brother. Carla
Jo Anne SadlerThanks, Carla[8)]
hardaped1905The Fjertingbys are not my relatives, Thank you for your research though. I really do appreiciate it. [:)] Karen Johannesen is shown on Skedsmo 1900 census as Karen Gudbransen living with her daughter, my ggrandmother, Inga Kristoffersen and son Kristian Dahlbak (changed his surname from Kristoffersen). She is also in 1875 census in Fet living with her husband and children, including Dorte Lovise (Lovise is name on census). Trond provided the link to 1875 census above. This is 1900 link ( I hope it comes across correctly) [;)] http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=f00231&gardpostnr=908&personpostnr=7400&merk=7400#ovre Tusen tak everyone!!!
