Looking for information about great grandfather
Jill Larson	Please help me find family information about my greatgrandfather. His American name is Severt Johnson He was born in Norway on 12/12/1853 and immigrated sometime between 1853 and 1887. My grandmother told me his name was changed from a Norwegian name which could have been one of the following: Blexrud, Blixrud, Blekstad, or something similiar with Norwegian letters, or y's or j's It is possible he had a brother named Hans Johansen Blekstad who immigrated here in 1860 and was born in 1842. Hans may have married Joren Aslaksdtr who was born in 1840. It is possible that the name Johansen was associated with them and that they came from a place called Eidsvold, Norway Severt had 8 children who all were born in Houston County Minnesota. His wife's name was Minne Can anyone help me find any links to these things? Thankyou much JLR
Hopkins	In the 1900 US census for Houston Co. MN Sever Johnson has listed himself as 46 yrs old, married to Minnesota born Minnie for 13 years. He also lists that he immigrated to the US 26 yrs earlier - which should put that event at about 1874. The 1910 US census he lists his immigration year as 1872 - his name is spelled as 'Siver Johnson' in 1910. The 1920 US census records him as 'Sievert Johnson' and again seems to indicate that he immigrated in 1872. (You should probably check all of these enumerations yourself - I could have misread them.)
DALB	Eidsvold is in Akershus, Norway. There are similar names to Sivert J on the 1865 Norwegian census, but you would need more data to confirm which is he. This is most likely your Sivert's passage - to Brownsville - in Houston Co. There are families working on the Blixrud surname. They also lived in Houston Co. MN.
