Knutsen, Eriksen or Berg from N Norway
turidLooking for any information about Gjertine Nikoline (Eriksen) Berg. She was born in Moskenes, Nordland, Norway in 1876. She arrived in Boston on July 24. 1903. She was going to Winter str. West Superior, Wisconsin to a cousin. When she came to Boston wit SS Saxonia, she was registered as Thinda Gjerntine. I believe her cousins name was Lovise. She died after a few years, but noone knows where or how. She left a son behind in Norway, Hjalmar Berg, who died in his fifties. Gjertine has grandchildren who want to know what happened. Gjertines parents were Knut Eriksen Berg and Helene Kristine Olsen. Please help.
turidThank you. I searhed now and found that several Rystad came from the same area as Gjertine Nikoline, so there might be something here. I am trying to find out about her uncles and aunts here. Have you seen the name of a husband here? Turid
BriningOne slim possibility in the Minnesota Death index is RYSTEAD, GJERTINA P. Date of Birth: <1877> Place of Birth: NORWAY Mother Maiden Name: OLDSDOTTER Date of Death: 05/09/1905 County of Death: ST. LOUIS St Louis county is across the river from Douglas County WI where West Superior is located. Possible that she married after arrival. At least the first name and mother's maiden name are correct [:I] You can order the death certificates on line Click Here You might want to try and trace the family history in Norway and see if you can find out who Lovise is and maybe find her family. They could have some information. Carla
BriningHi I couldn't find any rystad/rystead's in the 1900 or 1910 census in St Louis county except for an Oscar who emigrated after 1905. The death certificate should list a husband if she had one. Carla
