Minda/Minde Nyland
LindyjaySearching for record of when Minda/Minde Nyland came to the USA in the spring of 1903. She came from Kristiana, Norway with her three little girls: Selma b 1897, Jenny Dorothy b 1898 and Ida b 1900. Minda dob is 1873. Thanks
MASHere you have them leaving Oslo 27.march 1903: http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=EMIOSLO&gardpostnr=139690&merk=139690#ovre [:)]
LindyjayThank you. I located the above website and see that Minda and her 3 young girls left Kristiana on the Angelo to Hull. Was the Angelo a feeder line - if so how do I find which ship brought them to USA?
HopkinsFind them arriving at a North American port. You'll have to consider the time period - which ports were receiving the largest numbers of European emigrants then? Which ports would have closest to the final destination of the emigrant - was it active in that time period. I'm sure you've read the advice and articles on those subjects on this website and others online - perhaps an additional published book would help - try looking for the book "They Came in Ships"

LindyjayThank you Trond - and I think that was the farm where Minde was born. Minde married Nils Nyland from Sweden...Nils came to the USA in 1892 from Sweden as a single man, went back to Norway where he met and married Minda. They must have gone over to Sweden where the three girls were born, then she moved back to Norway, he left Kristiana in 1900 and Minda and the girls came over in 1903. Nils was born Arvika Varnlance in 1868....now I'll need to learn how to submit inquiries to Sweden. Thanks again
LindyjayCan someone verify the marriage between Minda Danielsdatter and Nils Nyland - think it was in Trysil in 1897, but would like to see the record. Thanks
