Admiral Sir John Balchen
r.balchin	This is my first request,hope someone can help.! We think there is a link with Admiral Sir John Balchen and the Norway Balchen families. Sir John died at sea in 1799 when his ship capsized in a great storm off of Alderny, The ship was called "Victory" not the Victory of Admiral Nelson but a previous vessel . Borge	There has been some discussion about the family at the Digitalarkivet board, but no mention of an English connection. It appears as if it can be traced way back to about 1574 in Norway from what I picked up. However there is some mention about more info in a book called: 'Vigeland Hovedgård' av Jørgen Aas (ISBN 82-993315-2-8) Maybe you should try posting a follow up at the Digitalarkivet board?
