Jo Anne Sadler | You have had prior postings on this family and have gotten help and advice. First, you must find out all you can about the family in Norway, including marriage records, baptismal records on ALL the children, the moving out records when they left for Canada, you know the dates.
The Narvik microfilm church records can be rented at a local Family History Center or on interlibrary loan:

These are not hard to read, a few basic words to learn, they are not narratives. Karl's place of birth in Sweden and his parents names would most likely be in those records.
Not everything is on the Internet. I have been doing this for over 30 years and haven't found everyone yet.[:)] |
jwiborg | Hi,
I see that you've found this in another posting, but there might be some relevant about the emigration, so I put it up here as well!

Sodermenland sounds like it could be the swedish county Södermanland, just south of Stockholm.
Bollnäs in Gävleborg county is north of Stockholm.
Maybe you should do some search around that area?
Census 1890 for Sweden, for example. However, those two counties are not available for free, but through payment.

The first map shows swedish "landscapes", the second one (to the right) shows swedish counties, "län".
