Hello, My surveying of all family records can not help with this problem. I am hoping someone can. This is what I know.Maria Regina Forsberg, from Askebo, Vathult, Sweden left Goteborg on April 3, 1894, She was 24 years old, Occupation was listed as a Maid. She left on feeder ship The Cameo and final destination was America. The Cameo went to Hull in the UK. I figure the trip from Goteborg to Hull could be no more than 3 days long.It is my understanding that most passengers were transported to a different building in Liverpool and most only stayed 24 hours before departing on the final leg of their journey. Therefore the approximate departure date from Liverpool should be close to April 8, 1894.This is what I need help with. I would like to find the name of the ship my Great Aunt traveled on to America from Liverpool. The date she left Liverpool. The Port she was destined for in America. And any information about her that is noted on her passenger list papers.Any help would be greatly appreicated as this has been "My Brick Wall". for a long time.Kristine Thomason">

Jo Anne SadlerThere are articles on this site about the "Hull" experience. In an old posting on Ancestry.com you indicated her birth date was 1873 which would make her 21 in 1894. In the Swedish Emigrant CD, in 1894 there is a Maria Forsberg, 21, from Vathult listed. On the free Ellis Island database for the Port of New York passenger manifests is: Maria Fosberg, 21, servant, arrived from Liverpool on April 16, 1894 aboard the Campania. Destination Connecticut. She appears to be traveling with a Joseph Kollerstrom, 22, from U.S., destination Connecticut. They stayed in separate parts of the ship. Cannot provide a direct link. http://www.jewishgen.org/databases/eidb/ellis.html There is information and pictures of the Campania on this site as well as information on the Cunard Line.
jwiborgHere is a link to the Mainfest at Ellis Island: click here She is listed on line #18. The Campania of the Cunard Line left Liverpool on Saturdays, calling at Queenstown in Ireland before crossing the Atlantic. Departure date must have been Saturday the 7th of April, 1894. Note: This page reports arrival date of April 14, while the manifest says April 16th. Jan Peter
Kristine Jo Anne, Thank you for your help, You have some amazing resources. I have seen this Maria L Peterson before but we were never sure if she was the right lady. I am amazed you saw my old posting Ancestry entry, how ever did you do that? I could not get to her line on the manifest so I can not tell if she is the right lady. Any chance you can send a link to her entry page? Jan Peter, Thank you for your information as well. Your input has also helped me to locate My Great Aunt's journey. However, I have to wonder if both of your imformation are on the same person. There is a Ellis Island Listing for Maria L. Forsberg who came from Vathult ( Should be Maria R. Forsberg) and then there is a Maria Forsberg that you found Jan Peter. Jan, The Maria you found I have never been able to find on the Ellis Island search engine. Can you tell if she came from Vathult, Sweden I am just a bit confused wether they are the same lady or not. Your help is still greatly appreciated. Kristine
