| nancy | I'm trying to find information on Martha Synde or Soende. She was allegedly born in Valdres (? perhaps Sor-Aurdal parish ?), Norway in 1785 and died in Wisconsin (maybe near Mt. Horeb) in 1875. Soende, I believe, is her married name (husband Jorgen Soende). She was supposed to have come to the US in 1850 on the Freya (captained by Jens Walloe as listed on this site) but her name does not appear on the passenger list. Descendants of Martha Synde met together until at least 1938 as I have a 1936 photo labelled the Martha Synde Society and a genealogy made by Herman Loftsgordon in 1938. I would like to know if anyone has anymore specific information on Martha Soende, who her husband was, if she did come over on the Freya in 1850, where she was from originally and any other information relevant to her life.
