NearNorsewoodThe New Zealand Government brought thousands of Scandinavian immigrants to many parts of New Zealand under the assisted immigration sytem. You can find some info here: www.teara.govt.nz/NewZealanders/NewZealandPeoples/Scandinavians/2/en The first assisted immigrants came in 1871. New Zealand Archives www.archives.govt.nz holds passenger lists for assisted immigrant vessels only. You will need to find out the name of the ship AND the year to get the information you need, but will only be able to obtain documents IF they were assisted immigrants. After a few years of assisted immigration, many Scandinavians came to New Zealand at their own expense. Unless they came on a vessel with assisted immigrants, records of their passage will not be held at NZ Archives. (The Latter Day Saints in the US might have copies of non-assisted immigrant vessels' passenger lists as the copies of assisted immigrant vessels' passenger lists have been microfilmed by them and are available in some NZ libraries. But, I'm not sure.)
