Maternal Grandmother's Birth Record
cockatiel	Hi All! It's been a while since I've written, as I have been still trying to locate (Anna Ruud, nee: Wamnes) my maternal grandmother's birth record. Her birth date again is: 06 JUL 1884, born in Kristiania (Oslo). Her parents: Anton Olsen Wamnes-1848 / Annette Gundersen-1851. According to the 1900 Norwegian Census she was living at: Uranienborg Terrasse 2, Kristiania at the time. So, I wrote to quite a few of the churches in Oslo and they said according to her address at that time, her church would be the Uranienborg Menight Kirke in Oslo. I received a reply from them stating that their records of the year of my grandmother's birth in 1884 would be at the National Archives Riksarkivet, and I should contact them which I did, and got absolutely nowhere with them. They were not helpful at all. So, now I am back to square one. My mother in America, did get the Latter Day Saints film number at her library from the Uranienborg Menight Kirke, but can't seem to find her record on there either. We are really at a brick wall, and don't know where to go from here. My Grandmother's parents were born in Skiptvet, as well as their first 3 children: Ole-1871, Gunder-1873, & Nils-1875. After the first three children, they left for Kristiania, because the remaining 4 children they had were born in Kristiania. They were:Jakcob-1882, Anna (my grandmother)1884, Bertha-1887, and finally Inga-1890. We are also having a difficult time locating my grandmother's parent's death dates. I was told Anna's mother Annette died in 1890, a short time after she had Inga, when Anna was only 6 yrs. old. (Don't really know how reliable that bit of information is though). We also can't seem to find Anton Olsen Wamnes's death date. My mother and I are assuming both died in the Kristiania area. We seem to have found the other siblings birth and death dates in my grandmother's family, but are unlucky in finding Anna's parent's death records and Anna's birth record. We do have Anna's parent's birth records and Anna's death info. If there is anyone who can help us locate these records, it would be most appreciated. Regards, Cockatiel [:)]
Brining	Hi You looked for Anna's birth record in the church near where she lived in 1900. Wouldn't she have been baptised in a church close to where her father is living. In the 1900 census he is at Hølandsgaden 7 which I believe is in southwest Oslo. In 1875 they were at Lakkegade 29. Carla
cockatiel	Hi Carla, The 1875 one at Lakkegade 29 is probably the one I will try first, as she was born in 1884, where as in 1900 she was 16. Is Lakkegade have a church the same as the name of the town, or is it different? I did know her father's address in 1900 was Holandsgaden 7, but didn't look at the nearest church to him then, as I felt she being 16 and on her own, she would have had her own church closer to where she lived being Uranienborg Menight. I was unaware of the town they lived in during 1875, as I couldn't find anything during that time. Is Lakkegade 29 close to the Oslo area? Where did you look to find this information? Is it possible to get a copy of the record you found? I only hope they stayed in that town long enough until 1884 to register Anna's birth at Lakkegade. Thanks for your help.
