Looking for Lytle's
Sharon PI'm looking for any Lytle's that are out there. My father was Lowell J. Lytle and his father Septemus Lytle came over from Norway in the late 1800's. Would like to know if there are any other Lytle's
Hopkins1910 US census shows two heads of household name Lytle and born in Norway. A John Lytle in Polk Co. Minnesota and a Pete Lytle in Whatcom Co. Washington. Mispelled names are rampant in the censuses. Where did Lowell and Septemus 'come over' to? when? When were each of them born? Do you have any information about what part of Norway the family originated from? More information about the family of the emigrant would be very helpful.
jwiborgHi Sharon! your family can be found on the Ancestry World Tree Project, under LYTLE / LIGHTLE FAMILY Contactperson: Christine Walters Name: Septimus F Lytle Birth: 3 SEP 1867 Father: John Lytle b: 19 SEP 1802 in Ross OH Mother: Caroline Emerson Trumbull b: BET 1822 AND 1826 in MA The Lytle/Lightle families of Ross Co OH. James & Jane (Bartlett) Lytle from Ireland to Ross Co OH, settling in Pike Co IL by 1840. You can find a lot of ancestors there! [:)] No relation to Norway as far as I can see... Sharon PNot sure of the spelling of Septimus?? Septamus?? or Septemus. They settled in North Dakota. My father Lowell Justin Lytle died before he could give me any info on any of the Lytle's, just that they came over from Norway sometime in the 1800's
BriningIn the 1920 census Septinus lists his parents birth place as the United States but his wife Regina was born in Minnesota with both parents born in Norway so that is probably the Norwegian connections. In the 1910 census Sept SEPTEMUS F lists his parents birthplace as I don't know. There is a Richard Erickson living with them listed as brother in law so Regina's maiden name is probably Erickson. Carla
BriningA possibility for Regine in the 1880 census click here Carla
Sharon PThanks Carla. My grandmother's name was Regina Erickson. I was always told my grandfather's relatives came from Norway. So, it sounds like it was my grandmother's parents. Thanks for that information. I'll go on Ancestory.com and see what I can find out. Sharon PS: Both my parents and all 4 grandparents are dead now, so I don't have a lot of info to try and find dates and places.
jd58278My mom wants to talk to you! She knew Sep and knows where they lived in North Dakota. She remembers attending your grandfather's funeral. I'm not sure if she knew your father but she did know that his name was Lowell.
