Wasdal Aaserud
SteamerIam looking for information on my husbands father's family. Hi dad's name was Conrad Wasdal (later changed to Hansen). He was from Stavanger and emigrated to Canada in 1924 or 1926. My husband's maternal grandparents emigrated in the early 1900 to the United States and then later to Canada. Their last name was Aaserud and we think they were married on the boat coming across .
SteamerI found out that Conrad was born as Konrat Martin Edvartsen Vasdal and it is thought that he was born on the family farm at Nesna,Nordland and that his father's name was Edvaart Hanssen. I would really like to hear from any family members left in Norway. We know that he had brothers and sisters but know nothing about their families. We have learned nothing about the Aaseruds.

kaare nAbout the Aaserud, can you give any more information? Names, years anything Aaserud is a mane from many places in Norway Kåre
SteamerAccording to the information in the Craigmyle-Delia History book and written by their daughter Anna (my mother-in-law) Ole was born in 1878 and Lena in 1883 near Stavanger Norway. She says they were married in 1905 and in 1907 emigrated to Churches Ferry, North Dakota ,a Norweigen settlement in the United States. Ole came to Canada in 1908 to file a homestead in the Craigmyle area and in 1909 the family moved there. Hope this will lead to some more information of their lives and families in Norway.

BriningOle and Lena are in the Ellis Island Database, listed as Aasero. Destination for Ole is brother in law Edward Storhaug, Churches Ferry. Carla
SteamerPerhaps some one will have information on the Vasdal farm and the area around Nesna . Conrad and his wife Anna (Aaserud) travelled to Norway in 1967 0r 1968 bur noone else from the family has been there.
isfseljeIf he was from Stavanger, and if Kaare n is right about Ole A. Aaserud, then I guess he is from Jelsa outside Stavanger. There is a farm called Åserød. The norwegian letter "Å" was in older days written as Aa, and the letter ø is often translated to o or oe in english. Search for "Jelsa kommune" and "Åserød", you'll find lots of info - unfortunately in norwegian :-) esben
