Olesdatter
Sonja_PHi all, I am looking for the ship and maybe traveling companion(s) for Karren Sophia Olesdatter b.1800 in (Hattfjedahl I think) Norway. Came to the US in 1882 (maybe 1881) and died 1906 in Cumberland WI (she was 106 and 5 months old!! Her daughter's name is Ingabord Mikklesdatter. She was already in the states and sent for Karren. I have many more names that go down the line to present if that would help. Thanks!!!!! Sonja
BorgeHello Sonja I found her at the Digitalarkivet, departing from Trondheim on July 22nd 1880 on the Wilson Line ship S/S Tasso for Hull England. She had tickets to travel cross the transatlantic with the American Line. Route: Steamship from Trondheim to Hull, to Liverpool by train, and from Liverpool to Philadelphia and from there to the final destination in America. Børge Solem
askeroiShe was a widow, heading for Chicago, Ill. and her ticket was paid for in the US. As far as I can see there was knowbody else listed with her that look like travelling companions - not even anybody else also heading for Chicago... By the way, the place she came from was Hattfjelldal (which means "Hat-mountain valley"). Ar askeroi
Sonja_PThank you both very much. It seems odd thatan 80year old woman would travel alone. My familt tree indicates that also A Bennet Nelson and Nikolina (Johansdatteer) Nelson came arond the same time. I searched for that passenger list and was unable to locate it. Any web page address on thatwould be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks. Sonja
