Lars Fredriksen - dep. from Trondheim 1887
RFLars Fredriksen born 1820, from Hustad, emigrated from Trondheim to Canby, Minnesota on March 19, 1887. Can anyone help me find the name of the ship he was on ? Ronny.
Jo Anne SadlerAccording to the list of departures on this site, there were no direct sailings to North America from Trondheim in 1887. He would have taken a feeder ship to Hull, England and then by rail to Liverpool or Glascow. In the Digitalarkivet records, he contracted with the Beaver Line, here is information on the line: http://www.norwayheritage.com/p_shiplist.asp?co=beave He may have gone to New York or Boston but most likely he went to Canada. I could not find him in New York records and the Boston records are not available online for 1887. The Canadian passenger records can be rented at a local Family History Center.
BorgeAccording to the Digitalarkivet records of emigration from Trondheim, Lars had purchased a ticket with the Beaver Line, and traveled via Christiania. (probably went from Trondheim to Christiania by train). That points to a departure with the S/S Rollo (1) from Christiania 1887-03-18, then about 2-3 days to to Hull, one day from Hull to Liverpool by train. Then I suggest the S/S Lake Superior from Liverpool with arrival to New York 1887-03-30 as a very likely ship. You could start by checking that list.
