Aurskog,Akershus to Wisconsin
K.P. HansenThank you very much for this fascinating web site. I am looking for Ole Teodorsen from Urskog(Aurskog, Akershus. He was born in Vinger(Konsvinger, Hedemark in 1855. He emigrated with the S/S Domino 09/14/1881. His destination was "Menamone"(That is Menonomonie ?)He apparently left together with Emil Johansen, born 1860. Teodorsen probably changed his name when he came to USA. That is all I know. Thanks for any help.
BorgeHello K.P. As he was born in 1855, you should be able to find him in the 1865 census. It is online, and searchable at the Digitalarkivet: http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/index-eng.htm Børge Solem
K.P. HansenThanks for your answer.I am sorry I did not explain this correctly. He is in the 1865 census for Aurskog, but I do not know what happened to him in USA. His nephew, my ggranfather also stayed for some years in USA after 1905. I will post more information about him in the ships board. Thanks again.
stevejI live in Menomonie,Wi.which is in dunn cty.I also have Akershus connections. If menomonie could have been his destination I would recommend the Area Reasearch Center atU.W.Stout (715)232-2300.They have been invalueable to me.Good Luck
K.P. HansenThank you very much indeed. I do realize that I have to gather more information about Teodorsen before I contact the center.(He was my ggrand mothers brother.)I will keep you informed. K.P.
K.P. HansenHello again, I know a little bit more. Andreas Andreassen, born 02/15/1871 in the same parish left Oslo harbour 02/21/1893 with ship "Island", and his destination was Marinette Wis. He travelled together with Theodor Olsen and Kristian Theodorsen Olsen. Ole Theodorsen(Son of Theodor Olsen ?) and Andreassen were related.Theodorsen, born 1855 left for Menomonie. Any help will still be appreciated. Thanks. K.P
stevejK.P., Did they all end up in Menomonie,Wi. or just Theodorsen? stevej
K.P. HansenThanks, My problem is. I have know idea. I learned about this most recently. Andreassen and Theodorsen were both uncles of my grandfarther. And Theodor Olsen probably was my gg granfather. My g grandfather(brother of Andreassen) went 08/25/1905 with "Belmondo" and came back some years later. The Andreassen brothers were housebuilders and carpenters. By the way, have seen my messsage about the captain ? K.P.
stevejK.P., If you can give me a little time I will go the archives and see if any of them have records in Menomonie or Dunn County. But it may take me awhile. stevej
stevejK.P., I think we may be talking about two different cities. I remembered that you said that some of your ancestors went to Marinette,Wi. , so I looked it up in my Wisconsin atlas. It is located on the eastern edge of Wisc. on the shore of Lake Michigan. Just to the north of there is Menomoniee,Michigan. The two cities are seperated by the Menomoniee River, which is part of the border between Wisconsin and Michigan. I am sorry I didnt think to check it before , it would have saved you some time and confusion. My town is on the Western side of Wisconsin , so I dont think I can be much use to you now. But I will keep poking around and see if I can find anything you could use. Sorry it wasnt better news , stevej
stevejK.P., If you do a search for MiGenWeb,or MichiganGenWeb,and then find the Menomoniee County link, you should be able to find some info. They also have other links, message boards, and volunteers to help you. I hope this will be of service to you. stevej

I am close to the family. Does any one know these persons ?
K.P. HansenHello, this is what I now know about my family in Marinette. Any further information will be greatly appeciated. Some great norwegian and american helpers have found this in the 1920 CENSUS FOR MARINETTE: These two families lived on “BAY SHORE SREET”. ANTON Olsen, age 43, immigrated 1882, lake fisherman Wife ELINOR age 30, immigrated 1906 Children: BENHARD , son, age 10 years ELIS, son,age 8 years FLORENCE,daughter, age 5 years JOSHEPHINE,daughter, age 3 ½ years. Also living with them was Anton's brother THORVALD Olsen, age 41, not married, lake fisherman, immigrated 1882. Anton and Elinor spoke only Norwegian. Kristian Olsen, immigrated 1882, worked as a fireman at steamboat, Wife KORA(Kara ?),german Child,HELEN Olsen, 8 years, born in Illinois. They also found on another street: CHRIST Olsen(Very probably Kristian Theodorsen Olsen), immigrated 1893, worked at saw mill, Wife GERTRUD Olsen, 32 years, swedish, Children: ELLA Olsen, daughter, 12 years, OTTO Olsen, son, 7 years MYRTLE Olsen, daughter, 3 1/2 years I also have reasons to belive that a sister of Kristian Theodorsen Olsen came in 1885. Her name was MAHILDE P. Olsen, and she left Oslo for Marinette, with pre paid ticket,26.04.1888 on ship “Rollo”.
