Ole Olssonn Ostrem (Estrem)
Paul Ofstedal	Would appreciate emigration information on Ole Olssonn Ostrem (Estrem), born Dec 18, 1835, probably in Haugesund, and emigrated at age 22, 1857. Married Josephine Emilie Amundson. From Leland, IL he went to Beloit College, WI, and became a Lutheran pastor in Iowa, Illinois, Texas and Minn. Died July 17, 1910. Thanks for emigration info.
Jo Anne Sadler	In looking at the Index of Departures on this site, in 1857 all passenger ships leaving from Norway went to Quebec, Canada. Unfortunately, there are not any Canadian passenger lists for this time. A few accounts in newspaper but not any official Canadian records. Finding exactly where he was from in Norway could yield of search of parish records and his moving out record.
Hopkins	If he was from Haugesund (Rogaland) or nearby we'd expect him to have departed through the port of Stavanger. Most of the records of emigration from that port were destroyed in a fire many years ago BUT databases are being reconstructed from other sources of information to try and recreate a list of names. Therefore you might never learn all the emigration details that you would have preferred - the Stavanger side AND the Quebec side both being 'next to impossible' . All that said - I checked the 'reconstructed' Stavanger emigration database and find that Ole Olsen Østrem (prest - priest/minister) is listed there more than once.
