Kari was born in Gjerstad, Aust Agder. Ole was born in Sandsvaer near Kongsberg. They met and married at the Egelands Verk (iron works). After marriage they moved to Sandøkedal (Sannidal), where they are found in the 1865 census. An older son, Johannes, emigrated three years earlier to the Washington coast where he homesteaded.
This family's emigration story is told in the March, 1913 Telesoga, publication of Telelag.
#8 Caroline was born April 9, 1860, died June 3, 1932.
