Ship Tasso in 1901 - passengers and crew
AntonyFI am trying to find out information about one of the crew of the Tasso (Wilson Line) in 1901: John Henry Mc Lardy, born about 1857, a seaman and an American citizen. I have found out about the Tasso(2) from this site, having linked Mc Lardy to the Tasso by way of the 1901 England census, available via Ancestry.com. It may be of interest to members of the forum that the passengers and crew of the Tasso were listed in the census, as at 31 March 1901, when the ship was off Flamborough Head, Yorkshire, England (civil parish = Vessels). From the Norway Heritage site, this event appears to correspond to a departure from Trondheim on 27/03/1901, destined for Hull. There are certainly a lot of Scandinavian names on the Tasso pages of the census! I hope it proves fruitful to some of you. In return, I would be grateful for any information whatsoever about an American seaman named Mc Lardy who presumably might turn up on crew lists - I need some leads! Many thanks Antony
BorgeI think the best place for you to start is at the Public Record Office in Kew, England. There you should probebly be able to find some information in the records relating to merchant mariners.
