Any living Relative in USA of Karl Rosenvinge
KrokmoI am looking for any living relative of Karl or Carl Rosenvinge from Norway. He went to states in early 1900's. He was in his 30's. He was from Norway. Not really much too start with but any help will be fine. Also tell me what other sites I can go and search.
jwiborgHi, Karl A. Rosenvinge, 32 years old (born 1871), arrived in New York with the ship The ISLAND on May 16, 1903. The ship left Christiania on April 30th, 1903. Karl is listed together with one Inga Rosenvinge, 4 years old (born 1899) The Ellis Island mainfest is very hard to read, can anyone read his final destination? And another strange thing, bot Karl and Inga's names are crossed out...why? There are some remarks at the left side... what does it say? Here is Karl with his daughter Inga in the 1900 census for Kvikne, Hedmark. Jan Peter
KrokmoI took a look at the form and I don't understand why the names were crossed out. Not sure what the writing is beside it. But I am still searching for anything else I can find. One more thing..the final destination looks like Bird Island...but not sure. If you find anything plz let me know. Thank you.
KrokmoAnother update....speaking with family here in Norway...he left alone. Kids were still in Norway. And he didn't have a daughter by the name listed on that doc.
jwiborgKarls daughter Inga born 26-SEP-1899 is listed together with him on the Ellis Island manifest. She is noted on line 9, Inga Rosenvinge 3years 6months old, from Norway. Destination could be Reid Island, now called Allisonia in Pulaski County, Virginia. Jan Peter
Jo Anne SadlerThere is a Bird Island, Renville County, Minnesota. if you look farther to the right on the manifest, it says Bird Island, Minn. On the manifest, it states Karl is single, he is definitely traveling with Inga who shows up in the 1900 census with Karl. Sometimes family memory is a little rusty after 100 years.[:p] Having the names crossed out could mean they didn't actually go on the voyage due to some obstacle like a child being ill. Are you saying Karl left his family in Norway and they did not join him?
KrokmoYes Karl left his family behind. They were surpose to join him later but couldn't cause someone was sick. Not sure why Karl and Inga names were crossed out. Couldn't be because they were sick...cause it shows that they weren't. As for the memory lost...I think some of it is there...especially if this is him and they don't remember a child going with him...unless he had another child they didn't know about. Thats all I can think of. In also checked Bird Island and VA and came up with nothing. It's like they never exsited unless I am checking wrong. If you find anything else...Please let me know.
KrokmoCan someone help me to check the Liverpool to see if he was around there...I have no clue...but I have to figure out why there names were crossed out and if they went on different ship...Are there any other sites I can check...I can't find no record for death or ssn on him or the daughter...someone plz help me.
BriningHi I downloaded the Ellis Island list and enlarged it. I am pretty sure that the note says not on board. If there was sickness in the family, there is a possibility that he died in Norway and that would explain why the family was never sent for. His destination was listed as his Uncle Gustav Olsen and there is a Gustav Olsen in Renville county Minnesota in the 1900 census. Also I haven't been able to find him in the Digitalarkivet Emigrant Registers which might indicate he never left. You should look for a record of his death in Oslo. The LDS has the parish records on microfilm that can be rented. You might also want to post a query on the Digitalarkivet debate forum Click Here maybe someone there can help. Carla
KrokmoThank you for the infomation...it is a big help and I will start checking. If you can find any info on Gustav Olsen plz let me know. Again...thank you!!!!!
KrokmoWow I found alot of Gustav Olsen.
jwiborgI wonder if the comment on the Ellis Island manifest reads "Avbrudt"...? Avbrudt or "avbrutt" can be translated into "interrupted" or "cancelled". Jan Peter
KrokmoLooks like "not on boat"..not really sure...But will keep searching for anything. Thank you.
