Rasmussens in North Dakota
Madrene WhiteMy grandfather , Ole Rasmussen, came to USA in the late 1800's. He and my grandmother, Bertha Andresdatter Hagen (she came from the farm of Hagen) , married and had 14 children and 11 lived. Only one is alive now, Annemarie. Ole and Bertha lived in Sharon, North Dakota. They farmed[:)] on a homestead. My grandmother Bertha had other sisters back East too. She had a daughter named Ovidia and she married Henry Kvaum, they had a son named Spencer. There were several generations named Bertha. I was named something else, thank goodness! I would like to know more about the family if there are any relatives still alive there. I know of one in Bergen, Norway, Solvig Johansson Borge. Grandmother Bertha's father was Andreas Olson Hagen. We went on a vacation there two years ago and found the house where my grandmother was born. Wanted to see if there was other relatives but did not have enough time to visit. I felt right at home in Bergen. Everyone speaks English, it was a very enjoyable visit.
HopkinsThese persons actually come from Sulen (Solund), Sogn og Fjordane, Norway? and merely left from the port of Bergen?
