There was a man called John Jensvold (sometimes Jenswold) who lived in Palo Alto Co., Iowa but I think he was actually from an area north of Oslo/Kristiania in Oppland (formerly called Kristians). US census information would appear to list him as born about 1834/1835 in Norway.

Trond	There was a Johannes Land Jensvold who immigrated ab. 1852 to Albany, Green Co., Wis., where he was a pioneer farmer. His brother Haaver Jensvold was one who traveled with ox wagon to California in 1849 for digging gold. Another brother Gulbrand vas school teacher and church singer in Albany, Wis. John Jensvold, son of Johannes has been advocate in Duluth, Minn., from 1888, also a leader in the political matter. Ref: Ulvestad, Nordmænd i Amerika, p719
