Search for Gothard Andraeson
Michael Ann MortaloniI am searching for Gothard Andreason and his siblings or descendants. Gothard was born in 1879 to my great aunt Nora Hansen Andraesen at Torberg house in Sagdalen, Norway.
Michael Ann MortaloniLooking for anyone now living at Torberg House in Sagdalen Norway. My grandfather Hans Hansen live there as did his siblings Nora, Marie, Ludvig, Selma Karoline and Dina. Nora married ? andreasen and lived there with Gothard her son and others who I know not.
jwiborgHi, I wonder if this could be your Gothard Andreasen ? The 1900 census for Bakken farm in Skedsmo, Akershus says he is born in 1876. Parents are Andreas Eriksen (b.1864) and Nora Hansen (b.1864). Quite young parents though! 12 years old when Gothard was born...? 1864 must be wrong... maybe it should be 1846? [:I] Siblings to Gothard are Erik, Hedvig, Helene, Samuel, Frantz, Johannes and Ester. Karl Gothard Andreasen is born on 06 Jun 1876 Andreas Eriksen & Nora Mathilde Hansdatter got married on 03 JUN 1876, just in time before the birth, so that he could be an legitimate child!! [:)] There are also records about one Hanna Emilie Andreasdatter born 10 Nov 1877 link and Alberthe Andreasdatter born 01 Jun 1882 link, so this Gothard had atleast 9 siblings. Btw; ..."Torberg house in Sagdalen"??? Do you have any more information about that place? I have no clue where that could be... [B)] Jan Peter
Jo Anne SadlerThis appears to be Nora, born 1855, in the 1875 census at Skedsmo, Tørtberg farm, father Hans Larsen, not Hansen. Siblings match Marie, Selma and Dina: click here There are three Tørtberg farms in the 1900 census in Skedsmo, Akerhus, 61 people, quite a few from Sweden. I could not make the link work.

jwiborgSagdalen is an area in Strømmen township, Skedsmo municipality, Akershus. The name "Sagdalen" is still used localy for the area between the bridge over the river "Sagelva" and the Sagdal road intersection. Sagdalen is also the name for the local school district. Skedsmo is just north-east of Oslo. Jan Peter
Michael Ann MortaloniGetting these replies are most wonderful. More than I had hoped for. Thank you so much. I looked at all three of the Tortberg farm list of residents for the census year 1900. It appears that none of my family lived there at that time. The only ones who remained in Norway in 1900 would have been my great grandfather Hans Larsen and wife Karen, Daughter Nora Hansen and family: possibly Andreas Eriksen husband, Gothard or KarlGothard her son plus any other siblings ...maybe Hanna born nov 1877 and Alberthe born June 1,1882. Their names appear at Bakken farm in Skedsmo according to jwiborg who found these names . Nora's sister Marie Hansdatter who married Laurits Heksenberg and is in the 1900 census was found by Trond. She evidently lived somewhere else. I don't know where Marie and her husband lived nor do I know where my great grandparents Hans and Karen lived during this time. Nor do I have dates for Hans and Karen's death in Norway. The others siblings of my grandfather who would be Hans Hansen , Selma, DIna Karoline and Ludvig had left for America by then. I would like to know where and when Hans Larsen and wife Karen died and what Karen's last name was. I am also interested in finding out how if the last names those Andreasen relatives had were kept as Andreasen after the 1900 census so I could trace them as Andreasens or if I must search for other last names. I am going to try to translate the information on the digitalarkivet database with my dictionary so I can understand better all the information you all have given me. Thank you again. Jo Anne SadlerThis organization could help you, they have a lot of farm books and microfilmed church records, all they ask is you be a member for $10. per year: http://www.romerikslagetiamerika.com/ I am sure the church records have been microfilmed by LDS and are available for rental at a local Family History Center. The catalog search is not working right now.
Michael Ann MortaloniThanks for the information regarding the romerikstagatiamerika site. I have checked it out ans probably will join it sometime this spring. They have great secondary sites to work from also.
