Help please on Gullickson and Satter Ancestors
tjohnston682Trying to find information on my Gullickson and Satter ancestors from Norway. I am hoping to find any information including 1) Where in Norway (farm) they are from, Census Records, etc. I tried searching on the Norwegian census site but the language makes it so difficult for me. Anyways, family info below. Any help would be greatly appreciated. FAMILY 1: GULLICKSON from Norway to Wisconsin, USA Andrew (or Asle) Gullickson born Feb 1845 in Norway. Married Marie (or Mary) born Mar 1848 in Norway. Andrew and Marie had the following children born in/around Christiana, Norway: Mary (1868 -1888) John (Mar 1870-1928), Guy (1873-1888), Mollie (1876-unsure), Andrew Jr.(Aug 1878 - 1970), Fred (1883-1888). The following were born in Wisconsin: Emma (1886-1976) and Augusta (1890-1981) Andrew, Mary, and kids immigrated to Wisconsin in 1885. FAMILY 2: SATTER from NORWAY to Minnesota and Wisconsin, USA. Christ Satter born 12 Jul 1874 in Norway. Christ immigrated in 1892 to Goodhue County, Minnesota. It appears Christ was first married from 1897 to 1906 (US census records shows he was first married in 1897, Olga was first married in 1907). SECOND Wife was Olga born 23 Nov 1884 in Norway. Olga immigrated in 1906. They had a slew of kids all born in the USA (Minnesota and Wisconsin). I wont list them as they were born within the USA. Their daughter Clara Satter married Andrew Gullickson JR. (my great grandparents).
Jo Anne SadlerThese are just guesses: On Family Search the direct link didn't work but it shows an Asle Gullicksen born February 18, 1844 in Buskerud: http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp In the 1865 census: 1865 A married Asle leaving in 1883 to Baldwin (Wisconsin?): click here
tjohnston682Wow Excellent! I will check those sites out.
Jo Anne SadlerThe census' can be very inaccurate. You need to secure all the marriage, birth, death records here first, names of parents and all other information before finding out where they come from in Norway. Marriage records, including applications, came be very informative. The Goodhue County Historical Society has alot of records and do research for a small fee: http://www.goodhuehistory.mus.mn.us/
