Konrad Olai Johnsen...from Norway
annikaThis is my Great Grandfather. He arrived New York as an immigrant, 21th June 1909, on Caledonia. He was going to Minneapolis, but I don't know if he ever was there. I have searched the 1910 census without any positive results.[:(] He was born February 23rd in 1882. So he was 27 years when he arrived America. And could possibly had children there. Any information is great and highly appreciated.[:)]
Jo Anne SadlerHe would have most likely gone by Conrad here and Johnson but there are always exceptions. Searching the 1910 census by place of birth is not a good idea as about only half the names show place of birth in the index. There is a Conrad Johnson in the MN Death Index listing his date of birth as February 6, 1882. There are two Conrad Johnsons in Minneapolis in the 1920 and 1930 census but they are Swedish and the immigration dates don't match: http://people.mnhs.org/dci/Search.cfm Sometimes people did not want to be found, did he have a farm name, he may have gone by that in the U.S.
annikaI think he was there for a short time only, but i don't have the details. Because he went back to Norway and started a family here. One son of his was born in 1922, so.... And I am kind of curious about the chances of any children in America. That would have been really fun[:D]
Jo Anne SadlerWell, you could have said that in the first place and I would not have wasted my time looking for him.
annikaOoooops![:0] Sorry.....[:(]
