Passenger List - SS Stavengerfjord (1928)
hagen_descendantMy great-grandparents came from Norway and traveled on the SS Stavangerfjord to Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, arriving on May 28, 1928. My great-grandfather's name was Einar Eriksen Hagen (last name originally Rognstadhagen; shortened at some point to Hagen). Born in Brandbu, Norway, Sept. 17/1903; died in Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada Feb. 12/96. My great-grandmother's name was Magnhild Aas (they were not married at the time of passage). Born in Brandbu, Norway, Apr. 2/1905; died in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada July 4/82. I am looking for the passenger list for this voyage of the SS Stavangerfjord. I know they both travelled on this ship, as I have their passports, but I am not sure if this was their original trip from Norway. They may have first gone to Chicago, USA, where some of my great-grandfather's family was. Any additional information on either of my great-grandparents would be most helpful and appreciated. Thank-you.

HopkinsHe left Norway from the port of Oslo/Kristiania on or about 19 May 1928 and is listed in the register - http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=emikra1&gardpostnr=277903&sokefelt=skjul I don't see any indication that this wasn't his first trip. Passenger list would be found in the records of the arrival port. You might be able to recreate an approximation of that list from the emigration register database - persons listed as leaving same date and ship... A family living on Rognstadhagen farm in Brandbu, Oppland, Norway at the time of the 1900 Norwegian census, likely to be Einar's parents and older siblings but you should find verification of that in Brandbu parish church records - http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=f00535&gardpostnr=423&sokefelt=skjul

hagen_descendantThank you all so much for replying so quickly. It looks like we've tracked them both down to the SS Stavangerfjord, as we thought. Thanks as well to Hopkins, as it looks as though you've got the right family in the 1900 Norwegian census. From what my mother can recall, the names of Einar's parents look to be correct. Thanks again!
