Translation - Norwegian to English
hagen_descendant	Does anyone know of any good websites with a Norwegian to English translator (for free, of course!)? I have come across the Norwegian-American dictionary (http://home.online.no/~otjoerge/files/word.htm) but I am still not coming up with all the translation info I would like. Any suggestions or comments are most welcome. Thanks.
Brining	There is a free download program called Tolken99. As the site says you can't purchase the license anymore but you can keep using the program in "trial" mode. Hopkins	Tolken works just like a spelling checker program - you'll still want a good Norwegian-English dictionary so that you can give Tolken translations of new words as it encounters them. There is a group of Tolken users on the Rootsweb's Norway-List who exchange Norwegian word and phrase lists for Tolken - thereby increasing the programs capabilities and vocabulary. That mailing list group has an 'advisor' in dealing with the Tolken program - http://www.rootsweb.com/~norway/Tolken97.htm. I entered a basic web search for the words TRANSLATION and NORWEGIAN - 63 results. Quite a few of those listing seem to also use the word FREE. (But as usual those translators might be worth exactly what you pay for them....)

You will still not find all words you are looking for, especially in the archaic Norwegian. I found a contact (here on this website) who graciously helps me with translations when I need them in exchange for my doing research on his family in the United States. He has also been able to help me with my ancestors in Norway when I reach a brick wall. This interchange has been beneficial to both of us. Good Luck!
crossword	I am interested to purchasing software for translating E-mails,websites and pdf documents . The problem being is trying to figure out whose software would work. The trial version Iloaded has been quite unsuccessful. I am also travelling to Norway this summer and was hoping to have some sor conversation translator but that seems fairly remote at this time. I am hoping to communicate with E-mails on my laptop. Hopefully that will work. I only have one document at the moment. It is a PDF file of a bygderboker and have been unable to even get a quote fro translating it so if anybody has any ideas I would be greatful
