22 Mars 1880 Departing Norway
FaerieheartI found my family departing Norway on this date from the Gran Parish (Digitalarkivet I believe), however I was unable to print what I had found and now am unable to find it again (even with going through every emigrant and out-migrant register they have). I feel foolish! Can anyone help with suggestions of another place to look?
BriningAt the Digitalarkivet, did you look under Other Sources Church Registers out migrants There is a listing for Oppland Migrants from Gran. The only other site I know of is Arkivnett Oppland http://www.farkiv.ol.no/arkivnett.oppland/ but it is mostly in Norwegian Carla
FaerieheartYes I did check the Gran Departures. I feel such a fool for not making better notes or printing what I had on the screen <arrgh>. I swear I have checked EVERY emigrant/out-migrant register at Digitalarkivet. Thank you for this arkivnett.oppland I will be checking it out ASAP!!! THANK YOU
FaerieheartOh NO! I don't speak Norwegian, nor do I have my dictionary yet! LOL! Again thank you for the link information! I know it will be a tremendous help once I figure out what it says <grin>! Best of Luck in our Journey through time! Faerie
BriningI don't speak Norwegian either but can stumble thru. One of the links under Databaser led to a Gran link. What are the names you are looking for. Maybe a different set of eyes can pick them out. Carla
FaerieheartThe suspects are: Haagen Østensen, Rønnoug Knudsdatter who are PRESUMED to have traveled with their children Østen, Hans, Simen, Mattia, Mathea, Anna, Karen and Ole. Best of Luck in our Journey through time! Faerie
BriningHi I haven't found them departing Norway but did find them in the 1865 census in Oppland, Ringebu. Also if you go to Muncipalities at time of source you will find listings for Ringebu. The 1st Marriages is really births and 3 of the children are listed and Haagen Østensen and Rønnoug Knudsdatter are listed in the marriages. Hope this is of some help. Carla
FaerieheartThanks Carla... what do you mean the 1st marriages is births? I have found records for 7 of Rønnoug's 11 children, and have one of the missing 4 verified through my mother who knew the woman in question (I figure she was born after the 1875 census and after the Døpte 1865 Records in Norway but before they left for the USA. I've tracked Haagen and Rønnoug to the 1900 US Federal Census in MN, where I have different immigration years for each Haagen Østensen (1891), Rønnoug Knudsdatter (1892) and on 1920 US Federal Census Østen Haagensen (1880). Which confuses me since I was told the family immigrated/emigrated together and this is a span of over 10 years between the son's year and the parents? I am trying to track down the other Haagensen/Haagensdatter's in the MN records to see if I can find out the year(s) they said they came to help narrow this down. Or... do "we" think there might be an easier way? THANK YOU AGAIN for all your efforts. I AM so very appreciative (and long winded it would appear!). :) Faerie Best of Luck in our Journey through time! Faerie
BriningHi "1st marriages is births" there is a typo on the page. This is a copy of it DA 29.10.1999 1801 census for 0520 Ringeboe DA 05.06.1998 1865 census for 0520 Ringebo DA 23.01.2002 Census for 0520 Ringebu DA 29.05.2000 1900 censusg for 0520 Ringebu DA 03.02.2001 Burials Ringebu 1696-1865 DA 05.02.2001 Mariages Ringebu 1696-1865 DA 05.02.2001 Mariiages Ringebu 1696-1865 And to add more confusion to your search I have found Rønnaug Knudsen and Karen Haagensen in the Emigrants from Oslo, 1893 only it shows her as a widow?? and destination New York. They are also in the Ellis Island database, Ronug Knudson, try searching using this site http://home.pacbell.net/spmorse/ellis/ellis.html I find it easier to use. I did find one Haagen Østensen out of Oslo in 1892 but the ages don't seem to match. Have you tried the Minnesota Naturalization records? I think they list the immigration dates. Good Luck Carla
FaerieheartThank you Carla! Has anybody told you yet today how special you are! I cannot wait to check out the information! Thank you Again Carla!
