How to find out more?
knutbl	I have found the ship my grandfather, Amandus Åkenes, travelled to New York (from Kristiania) with in 1913. It was the "Hellig Olav". How can I find out which passengerclass he travelled on, how long he stayed, what he did in America, who he travelled with (if he travelled with anyone)? What can the passengerlists tell me and where can I find them? Hope anyone can answer this! Knut B. Lindbjör
Brining	Hi Knut Was your grandfather born in 1889 gardsnavn Aakenes in Ibestad, Troms and his father's name Peder Hanssen? If so I think I have found him on the Ellis Island Immigrant list as Amandus Pedersen. The easiest way to search the Ellis Island data base is to go to http://home.pacbell.net/spmorse/ellis/ellis.html You will be able to view the ships manifest which tells who he is going to visit and where. There are 2 pages so be sure and look at the previous page which lists names. Good Luck Carla
