| S/S Montebello 1904 & 1907 |

Nils Bernhard Olsen Holt ( b. 02.11.80) left Christiania 26.02.1904, with S/S Montebello from Chistiania and with Wisconsin as his final destination.
He returned from the US a few years later and 06.04.1907 he was
ready for a new journey with S/S Montebello, this time to Canada ( he
stated his place of residence was America)..
I´ve not manage to find them so far in the Ellis Island database, or any other online sources I´ve found.
Any help with sorting out which ships/dates he left Liverpool/Southampton (?) heading for US/Canada will highly appreciated.

You must check for the names of the transatlantic companies (Linie) or agent in the police lists (Digitalarkivet). If You do not find the info in the online records, you must check the original, I am 100% sure it is there. Let me know when you have that info, and I will advice in you next step.

Thanks for your reply and sorry that I don´t list the agent. Actually its only given for his journey to Canada in 1907 in Digitalarkivet; Charles Bennett. According to the agent & shipping line register he "must" have travelling with the Allan & State line and end up in either Quebec, Montreal, Halifax or St. John.

| Borge | I think you are right about a Canadian arrival in 1907, as it is most common, but the Allan Line also had a service to Boston and to Portland, so you have some options.
If you check the original (or film of the original) source for 1904, you will find line or agent information. (the Digitalarkivet transcribers left that info out for some reason)

| Borge | Yes, if you want to try and find the passenger list you will have to. My advice is to start with the Canadian arrivals. There are instructions for how to order linked from our article "Hunting Passenger Lists". My local library here in Norway was actually able to lend the films from NAC, and then lent them on to me, but I had help them a little
