Vera	Emigrant Andreas Nilsen left Norway Apr. 16, 1870 on the ship Aarhus to Denmark. His destination was St. Peter, MN. He is registered in the Danish Emigration Archives 4/6/1870, on board the ship "Denmark". Did this ship sail directly to America, or was it a feeding-boat? Is it possible to find the port of arrival in U.S./Canada? Would it be a list of the arriving passengers in the "other end"?
Borge	The S/S Denmark was a ship belonging to the National Line. The general agent in Norway. An announcement in the "Ringeriges Ugeblad 10 Mars 1870" names the company as the "Amerikanske Emigrant-Kompagni" and reveals that new, huge, and well equipped 1st classed iron screw steamers would depart every week from Copenhagen for New York. The first ship for the season would be the S/S Denmark to depart on April 15th. General agent was O. Svendsen was authorized as general agent for a company called "North-American Lloyd in 1869. In 1870 he was authorized to convey emigrants on the National Line via Copenhagen and Kristiansand.
