Ship Albertine
suesI found my ancestor on the Albertine's passenger list. The passenger list actually says Bark Albertine....but your list says SHIP. Was it not a bark then? Thanks.
BorgeI will have to check that information closer, but as you might know the ships were often re-rigged from ship to bark, and the only difference is really the rigging, as the mizzenmast on a bark was fore-and-aft rigged, while the ship always had 3 square rigged masts. You would usually not need as many sailors to sail a bark rigged ship, but it was slower that a ship rigged one. In some Norwegian sources the terminology was not always consistent. Børge Solem
